The Saudi-French Business Council was one of the very first business councils that the Council of Saudi Chambers founded. Right from its creation in 2003, with strong support from MEDEF International in France, it played a critical role in developing economic ties between France and Saudi Arabia.
Since the time King Faisal paid his first visit to General de Gaulle in Paris in 1967, our two countries have shared an unfailing friendship and trust which has become even stronger in the last few years. French President François Hollande has made no less than four official visits to the Kingdom in just three years.
However, although politicians may offer new possibilities, it is up to the business communities of both countries to take over and turn the opportunities into completed trade and investment projects that benefit both of our economies.
This is the role that the CAFS has played for over twelve years now, under the leadership of its successive chairmen. I would like to pay tribute to them for their vision and dynamism. The SFBC now brings together a hundred or so Saudi businessmen from all economic sectors.
The CAFS is already playing an active role. It organizes biannual visits in France. The CAFS will be able to leverage its activities via this website. I would like to congratulate CAFS president Mohamed Ben Laden and all CAFS members for this initiative. It is an opportunity that offers a real showcase of bilateral economic and trade relations. The website does provide very useful information on CAFS’s many initiatives and events it supports. But the website also goes beyond this, serving as a platform to bring economic players together, starting with people looking for internships and jobs in Saudi or French companies.
I am thus as optimistic as ever about continuing to develop our economic ties. It is via trade and personal ties forged over the years that we have built and embarked on new partnerships to serve growth, employment, and stability.
